[[Artio was a bear goddess of the Continental Celts.]][^1]
Known as *Dea Artio* in the Gaulish region (literally *bear goddess*).[^2]
Other sources refer to the masculine forms *Artaois*, *Artaius*, ‘which are associated with the Gaulish Mercury’.[^3]
She has been founded depicted on bronze at [[Berne]], [[Switzerland]]; ‘the goddess sits before a huge bear, offering fruit to it.’[^4]
