Folkways are spread through imitation, oral means or observation, and are meant to encompass the material, spiritual and verbal aspects of culture..[^1] Folkways are generally enforced by “gentle social pressure”.[^2] (i.e. ‘don’t talk loudly on your phone on the bus’.)
