# Learning in public
One of those buzz word-y concepts you can’t really avoid seeing if you spend any time at all researching [[Personal knowledge management|personal knowledge management]] and, albeit to a slightly lesser extent, [[Obsidian (Software)|Obsidian]].
There’s a great write-up [over here](https://notes.nicolevanderhoeven.com/Learning+in+public) on Nicole van der Hoeven’s *Fork My Brain.*
FWIW, I’m not actually convinced that [[Digital gardens|digital gardens]], etc, are actually good examples of this learning practice, since… well. There generally *isn’t* actually an “entire community’s knowledge and wisdom” to take advantage of; nor is there a natural question-and-answer exchange.[^1] It’s someone putting out their learning as they learn it, for sure—and it’s true that the learner is probably going to put more effort into polishing them!—but it’s a far cry from (for example) learning publicly in social-based locations such as [[Dreamwidth]], [[Tumblr]], etc.
