# Population planning
In humans, the correct term is apparently *Human population planning*. It has, however, been traditionally called *[[Population control]]*.[^2]
Population planning can have various end goals:
1. increase or decrease the overall population
2. increase or decrease specific sub-groups of the population (e.g., [[Eugenics|eugenic]] policies)
3. ensure all population sub-groups (e.g., classes within society) increase at the same ‘average rate’.[^3]
