# Frog in the hole - Serves 1. + Source: Ashley English, *Taproot Magazine*, Issue 1: SOIL. --- ## Ingredients - 1 slice bread - 1 egg - 1 tablespoon butter - salt and pepper, to taste --- ## Method - Melt the **butter** in a mid-sized frying pan over medium heat (cast iron preferred). + Using a 2–3 inch cookie cutter, cut out the centre of the **slice of bread**. - Place the cut bread slice and its round into the pan. Cook 1–2 minutes, then flip over both using a spatula. + Crack the **egg** into the centre of the cut-out bread slice. Cook 2–3 minutes over medium–low heat. - Flip the bread slice and the round over with a spatula. Cook for 1–2 minutes longer, until the egg is set and the whites become fully cooked. + Remove from heat, transfer sliced bread and round onto a place. Serve immediately, with salt and pepper to taste.
